New Belgium Brewing, one of the world's largest independent breweries, agreed to be acquired by a unit of Japan's Kirin Holdings Co., the latest craft beer maker to be snapped up in an increasingly competitive market.

Fort Collins, Colorado-based New Belgium Brewing, one of the largest independent U.S. craft breweries, today announced it would sell 100% of the company to an Australasian subsidiary owned by Japan's Kirin Holdings called Lion Little World Beverages.
